When working on a project, either on my computer or in the shop, I like to have music playing. I have my own tastes, and sometimes find a new style or artist that I like to listen to. Other times it’s just me and my old favourites.
Recently I started using Spotify(nope, they are not paying me either) to listen to music. So, I wondered if there was a way to get my current playlist into my posts. Turns out there was.
The first route I followed was using the built in embedding feature of the software, you can just choose to Copy The Embed Code from the software and it give you an iFrame to drop into your post. Not hard to do, but not the optimal experience.
Next a quick search for “embed spotify wordpress” and I found out that the current versions of WordPress support just pasting in the Spotify URI and it will take care of the rest. Unfortunately, this appears to be a feature that is only natively available on sites using Woredpress.com to host them. Since I’m not running on that platform, I need to keep digging.
Finally, let’s see if we can add the feature with a plugin. The Spotify Embed plugin to be exact. I just past the link and it takes care of things.
So, I present to you the album that I am listening to right now on Spotify:
Now, let’s see if I can keep posting those, and keep it fresh as I do so.
